    WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

    The Safety Intern will assist the Safety team in implementing a Safety Management System (SMS) which includes safety risk management, safety data-analytics, creation and/or revision of health and safety training and policies and procedures, and safety promotion throughout the organization.

     

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

    • Assist in the coordination of safety duties in such areas as safety committees, preplanning meetings, and toolbox meetings.
    • Assist in maintaining safety records, including pre-task plans, training records, toolbox meetings, incident investigations, and metrics.
    • Assist in the review of subcontractor safety programs for completeness and compliance with policies.
    • Assist in promoting safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all federal, 状态, and local regulations.
    • Perform standardized reporting functions and non-standard queries and reports as necessary.
    • Assist with safety data analysis, metrics, and safety performance targets.
    • Assist with maintaining and improving the safety database applications utilized at the agency.
    • Monitor and collect missing accident or incident information from the service providers (reports, rulings, damages, 等.) and interface with the contractor representatives and the service providers to correct discrepancies.
    • Support the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by following safety and security policies, considering safety in every action, and reporting safety and security concerns.
    • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

     

    WHAT YOU BRING

    • Full-time student currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies in Safety Management, Occupational Safety and Health, or related major degree program. 
    • Experience working in an office environment.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and 分享Point.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

    • Knowledge of computers, smart phones and/or tablets with Microsoft Office or other systems that include word processing, database, spread sheet and graphics software.
    • Ability to analyze data collection, ensure accuracy and be detail oriented.
    • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. 
    • Ability to deal effectively with customers in potentially adverse situations.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
